Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been reporting for more than 45 years focused on people suffering from the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry covered wars in Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, news reporter on TV and host best known as a correspondent for the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast news show that aired on NBC. Curry was noted especially for her reporting on humanitarian crises in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father is another American Naval Sailor. Her parents met while her father was stationed in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. In the wake of her father's involvement as a military officer, they moved a lot. They eventually arrived in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. In 1978, she graduated at her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. It's likely that her first exposure to cultures and life experiences has shaped the way she communicates about international concerns. Curry was not able to go to a single school in Alameda, San Diego Oregon or Virginia during the two-year period, due to her family moved often. In the end, she was able to graduate from Ashland High School. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in broadcasting. She became the first woman anchor for the station when she aged 22. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter for KGW in Portland Oregon. The following year, she relocated into Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. She was awarded the award of two Emmy Awards during the six years with the station.
